Um, I hate to do this, but this is how it goes when starting something new. The old emoticon templates are fine (although we should begin phasing them out whenever we see them) because:

There is a new way of having complete access to the old emoticon library from within this site. All you have to do is: what ever emoticon you want! You don't even need the :: in front of it. Watch:

wave will create wave

or big_old_hug will create big_old_hug

And it's even better than the old system! You can use spaces where you used to use _ so:

big old hug will still produce big old hug

And if the site can't figure out which emoticon you meant (if you type it wrong) it will make its best guess! So, let's say you don't know if there's an emoticon for butthead. Give it a try and see what you get!

And, finally, if the system can't figure out at all what you mean, it will just choose a random (small) emoticon! Fun fun fun!
