I got the essay I wrote up on my wholewheatradio site. But I need to know how to indent each paragraph. You being a pacifist I think you might find it interesting because it makes the case for conscientious objection.Billybones (talk/contribs)

Election Canada

To learn more about the Canadian election go to the CBC The National Your Turn. It will give you a pretty good idea of what they four parties stand for. The issues for me are bring the troops home form Afghanistan and cleaning up the environment. The Conservative party is very much a clone of the Bush administration. The Liberals will pull out the troops but not till 2011 but offer a carbon tax which has worked well in Europe. The New Democrats Party will bring troops home imediately. They will give no had outs to big corporations. The Green Party will have a bigger Carbon Tax than the Liberals. They to will pull the troops out of Afghanistan but I am not sure of a date. I am hoping the NAFTA Agreement between the USA Canada and Mexico will be ended or renegotiated.Cargill Canada negotiating with Cargill USA works really well for the Corporation but not so much for you and me. I would love to vote for the Green Party but it almost seems in a way it is a vote for the Conservatives because they would otherwise be voting Libertal or NDP which have the greatest chance of holding the Conservatives to a minorty. Discussion_topics

I modified Discussion_topics a little as you'll see. The reason I didn't create a page for News Item is that I don't understand the difference between a discussion item that is closed and a news item? If that's what a news item is, then I'd vote to change that term to "Closed discussions" or "Archived discussions" or something like that. No biggie.

On a day that I'm goofing, I will probably make a sandbox page with all that stuff and Feature Requests, Bugs and other stuff like that all on a single page. I love your format and how much info can be put in a small space. And I like single pages that I can check daily that have everything that's going on (ala Recent Changes but a more user-friendly layout). Anyway, when and if I do, you'll be the first to know so you can see. Image:Smile.gif

Thanks for making DPL a reality Kelli. Thank you. Jim (talk/contribs) 08:26, September 27, 2008 (AKDT)

I like the modifications. Image:Thumbsup.gif One of the big reasons why I started the DPL discussion topic was to figure out how to handle news items. I agree closed discussion topics are news items and am fine with just calling them "closed discussions". (I kept going back and forth on that issue.) The only reason I started the news category was in anticipation of things that usually go on Community news.
I like the flexibility of being able to create various layouts. So people that like everything on one page and people who don't can (hopefully) both be happy. Kelli (talk/contribs) 12:50, September 27, 2008 (AKDT)

Toe Glow

Birthday? You had a birthday? I missed it? No no no ... say it isn't so! Joe! Talk about blow! Well hell, let's go! You know? To 'n fro. I'll bet your favorite Stooge is Mo. Yo! Check out my toe! It's aglow. And now this Happy Birthday wish is oh oh oh so ... um ... er ... over? Image:Happy_belated_birthday.gif Jim (talk/contribs) 17:22, September 27, 2008 (AKDT)

I tried really hard not to have a birthday this year. Alas, Mr. Monkey's minions just wouldn't let it go.
That glowing toe of yours is really something. I knew you were highly evolved but I guess I didn't know just how much!

Chat & Daily Topic Creation

It seems like these are usually created for the week by now so thought maybe they didn't get done with the problems lately. No big deal to manually create them. Kelli (talk/contribs) 13:58, October 4, 2008 (AKDT)

Oh, yeah. Um, I remember coding it originally to happen on Saturday night - or maybe it was Friday night. You are really observant if you know they're late. Lemme look at the code....hmmmm... okay ... yup, it's supposed to happen at 00:00:01 on Saturday (i.e. immediately after Friday midnight) ... and it didn't so I'll make it run again. Okay - there they are. Yeah, I've been wondering about the "daily" topic pages - if you need me to turn that off so they can be made anytime, just let me know. It's a 1-line change. Jim (talk/contribs) 14:41, October 4, 2008 (AKDT)
I've wondered about that too, but it's working fine as it is. I think it should be decided be the community but I haven't had any luck starting a discussion about it. In order for the DPL method to work we need consistent page names and category and/or template use. So, it depends on what the community is willing to do I guess. Oh, and thanks for the CDs! FYI - It looks like this happened again... Kelli (talk/contribs) 15:53, October 11, 2008 (AKDT)

www.wholewheatradio.org vs. wholewheatradio.org

You probably saw that I modified Template:Request2 - I changed www.wholewheatradio.org to wholewheatradio.org - I also did that in Template:Request. I can't fully explain why www no longer works --- it is because our official URL is now wholewheatradio.org and not www.wholewheatradio.org (and Apache config files make it so by redirecting www.wholewheatradio.org to wholewheatradio.org) --- but the important thing is just to stop using the www and things will sometimes magically start working. Image:Dunno.gif Jim (talk/contribs) 11:04, October 7, 2008 (AKDT)

Thanks. I've seen you make that change in other places. Just didn't think about because it was working fine for me. I'll keep an eye out for it in the future. Kelli (talk/contribs) 11:54, October 7, 2008 (AKDT)

Thank you!

I have just found you, and I am truly thankful for the content, and the setup. I hope to be joining the Talkeetna community in a much more 'physical' manner, within the near future. Blessings upon all, however you may wish!
