Hey, Firewalk. "A thing or too" should be "two." I don't know what the etiquette is, but it's probably something you should change.--Mert

Hey Firewalk - welcome! I saw you edited the main page discussion with ::ldaisy ... was that just goofing around or was it supposed to do something? I'm so new to wikis that I don't know double colon is supposed to format as. Thanks if you have a chance to help me on that. --Jimbob 18:29, 15 March 2006 (AKST)

Hi Jimbob, Just trying to plant something in the garden. -- Firewalk

Gotcha. And by now I've learned that colons are used to indent as I did on this entry. It's 5:34AM and I've got to get some sleep!
Jimbob 05:36, 16 March 2006 (AKST)

Hey Firewalk, I saw that someone edited the Grateful page, I didn't look to see if was you but since it was your part, I took my other heading out and tried to make your name for the section look like . . well, go see if I am on the right track. I completely took out the Grateful Wheatheads part that i had originally named it. i think we have different visions so I am bowing to you and trying to make it fit in. i know you didn't want me to call the page just Grateful but i was thinking simple is good here. So the second subtitle, in place of responses, is as you would have it. i agree that it is much better. LuAnna 17:27, April 15, 2006 (AKDT)

Sorry about the inelegance on your user page, FW. I'm still pretty slash and burn at this stuff! Cate 23:38, April 22, 2006 (AKDT)

Summer Concert

Hello, I had to leave the concert last night. I saw your Chat mentioning you recorded it. Any chance I could get a copy? Thanks, ElmasnoJ

Got It

Phillip was very accomodating, it's at http://mudsongs.org/temp/wwr-july28-2006-concert.mp3. He asked the availability of his recording not be advertised publicly, but freely given to those who ask privately. The volume (amplitude) is a little low, but at least it's complete. I recorded JimBob's replay Sunday 7/30/06, the volume is better, but I used 64kb MP3 format instead of Phillip's 128kb, and there were 2 interruptions due to hard disk problems on JimBob's PC. If anyone wants my recording of the replay, I'll post it somewhere... Thanks again, ElmasnoJ

House concert at BlueRidge's

I thoroughly enjoyed hearing you on the webcast of the concert at BlueRidge's yesterday! Thanks!

FYI: I started a page about the concert, but didn't add much detail. Rich Baumann House Concert at BlueRidge's

Bravo Firewalk!!!

What a tremendous gift you give! Thank you for keeping music alive in the hearts and hands of the children knocked by Katrina. Very beautiful! I'm deeply touched by your largess. Fine-line 10:57, February 12, 2007 (AKST)

Requesting Mable Pike

I hope you liked that track of hers you requested. I love it! She is a great storyteller about her life in Alaska. Denali 16:38, March 27, 2007 (AKDT)

Happy BirthDay

Firewalk, besides being a valued musician, and a WWR friend, you are just a down right good guy! Happy Birthday!!

Similar to a Wheatgram

Leaving a message on a user's talk page is similar to the old Wheatgrams. Type your message on the person's talk page, when they log onto the chat (or refresh the chat) a message box will pop up near the top of the chat screen with a message notification.

Hi there Firewalk

You are very welcome. Peterdale I do miss chatting with music lovers, however. :)

Sets are cool

You are quite welcome... I am finding the set things very cool. Doctordoug (talk) 05:01, May 9, 2008 (AKDT)

Today's Topic

I removed your "Today's Topic" question and pasted it here for you to perhaps add later for the following reasons:

1) People "tag" one another for the next day's topic. I was tagged to add today's topic. It took me by surprise when I brought up the page at 7:30AM my time and found you'd already posted something.

2) I considered leaving your topic up, but since I was asked to post a question and I spent a good part of yesterday thinking about what to post, I decided your question can wait.

3) If by chance you were impatient because a new question hadn't been posted, please keep in mind that people on this site are from all over the world and are in different time zones. It would be respectful, particularly if you know the person tagged is 4 hours behind you, to give them a chance to wake up at a reasonable hour to post the question.

Thanks for your cooperation. Jim (talk) 07:35, June 6, 2008 (AKDT)

What is respect?

Fri June 6, 2008

What a great question! To me, respect is the consideration you show for another person's position, views, and/or values. This consideration is demonstrated by how you interact with that person. As the father of a 20-year old son, I've learned (all too painfully) that respect is something that cannot be demanded, even if well earned or deserved. I've also learned (all too painfully as well on occasion) that it is easy to inadvertently disrespect someone when you are not familiar with their views and values, blindly assume that their views and values are the same as yours, or assume that they will know when you are being serious and or just kidding around to get a laugh. -- Kimchifox

A hit song sung by Aretha Franklin. Bycracky

I have been talking about this with a group of first and second graders. One boy told us, "If there was enough respect, there couldn't be any more war!"

Hi, Firewalk. Click here for links to the previous daily topics. I hope that helps. Kelli (talk/contribs) 05:54, July 15, 2008 (AKDT)

Oops

Rich, I just wanted to let you know that when you added to the chat page, for some reason it eliminated the talk box. I reverted to the previous version, which fixed it, and then tried to add your comment again. It doesn't show up; I dunno why. — Mert (talk/contribs) 07:24, July 21, 2008 (AKDT)

Okay, I got it to show up by putting it in a different spot. For future ref, you might want to click on edit and see where it needs to go, for when you want to do it again. Have a great week! — Mert (talk/contribs) 07:31, July 21, 2008 (AKDT)

Howdy back Rich. I am often here Mon - Fri... Some days I'm really swamped,.. Some days like today i am running sequential processes that take a while and I have "tagging time" Thanks for stopping by. Doctordoug (talk/contribs) 09:51, July 22, 2008 (AKDT)

Email address

FW, that email didn't work for you because it needed to go under the "More information" heading, rather than as a tag under "Listener comments." Check it out under "edit" and you'll see how it works ... Have a great day! — Mert (talk/contribs) 04:39, August 1, 2008 (AKDT)

Tag Dude

I have taged you for tomorrows todays topic. Yes you may have seen hoonah there He told me he will be in the wilds tomorrow. Hopefully you will accept the task. Doctordoug (talk/contribs) 08:49, August 1, 2008 (AKDT)

Tagging

Please preview before saving your tags. If it is in red, it is either misspelled or doesn't exist and should not be used. Also, we've had a lot of over-requesting of Buster B Jones lately. Kelli (talk/contribs) 18:37, August 1, 2008 (AKDT)

Hello Firewalkingheart

Good Morning and just for you a child's quote: "It's hard to unlearn a bad word." ::lol I check into the collaboration room sometimes, but I find that I'm getting my own work done without chatting so much and the time I spent editing WWR is the time I could spend on all my long standing computer projects here. I'm always happy to hear that you are working with the kids. Montesorri recording sounds delicious. What a treat! Please give my best to your wife and let her know that the market here for restoration is soft as a lot of the rug dealers are feeling soft sales too. Challenging times fer sure. Blessings, Love and Good Health, Firewalkingheart. Nice to hear from you. ReWoven (talk/contribs) 06:41, August 21, 2008 (AKDT)

  • And another Image:Hello.gif from me, FW. Everything's fine here, although I am moaning in the morning again (school's started). I see you've stayed busy! I'm still lurking about, when I can. Hope all is well with you and yours! Cater (talk/contribs) 09:34, September 4, 2008 (AKDT)

My Friend

I left a note for Kelli in which I sort of assumed she had done most of the work on the site lately. This may have been too much to assume, so I want to thank you, too, for your time and effort as well. Go Whole Wheat! Gearhead (talk/contribs) 10:12, September 11, 2008 (AKDT)

Are you still involved in getting musical instruments for New Orleans? I think I could donate a viola (smaller, student size) if you could use one. Needs new horsehair and maybe a few other minor repairs. Let me know! Gearhead (talk/contribs) 08:30, September 14, 2008 (AKDT)

Hi Richwalk. Caught up on your building sale by looking thru your user page. Wow, you gotta lotta stuff in there. What kinda books are your selling / dumping ???? Any science fiction amongst them? ElmasnoJ (talk/contribs) 21:37, September 26, 2008 (AKDT)

I haven't have a chat entry box for days! FW, I thought Jim had relaxed on requiring contributions to be able to chat, but maybe he's gone back . . . Anyway, welcome back! — Mert (talk/contribs) 07:24, November 15, 2008 (AKST)

Image:Stupid.gif

I dunno, FW. Maybe emails don't count as contributions. Try tagging and see if that gets you the chat box. Otherwise, maybe you should bring it up with Jim on his talk page. — Mert (talk/contribs) 07:35, November 16, 2008 (AKST)

Good Morning, Firewalk. I noticed you are having trouble getting a chat box and it seems you are not alone. I am pretty sure Jim has re-implemented the editing for chatting feature. Just go ahead and do a bunch of contributions.. lyrics, tags or editing artist's pages and see if that doesn't do the trick. I don't think sending e-mails or rating songs counts as edits here on the WIKI. Good luck with that. OldGowl (talk/contribs) 03:12, November 19, 2008 (AKST)

If you ever want to see where you stand chat comments relative to your edits, just click on "contribs" after your signature name and the bold word "top" shows up after an edit point. This is helpful to me to see if something I did counted as an edit or not. Okey dokey.. you have a good day out there ! OldGowl (talk/contribs) 03:32, November 19, 2008 (AKST)

Bailout

Bailout costs more than Marshall Plan, Louisiana Purchase, moonshot,
S&L bailout, Korean War, New Deal, Iraq war, Vietnam war, and NASA's
 lifetime budget -- *combined*!
POSTED BY CORY DOCTOROW, NOVEMBER 25, 2008 4:48 AM Barry Ritholtz sez,
In doing the research for the "Bailout Nation"
book, I needed a way to put the dollar amounts into proper historical
 perspective.
If we add in the Citi bailout, the total cost now exceeds $4.6165
 trillion dollars.

People have a hard time conceptualizing very large numbers, so let’s
give this some context. The current Credit Crisis bailout is now the
 largest outlay In American history.

Crunching the inflation adjusted numbers, we find the bailout has cost
more than all of these big budget government expenditures –
 combined:

 • Marshall Plan: Cost: $12.7 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost:
 $115.3 billion
 • Louisiana Purchase: Cost: $15 million, Inflation Adjusted Cost:
 $217 billion
 • Race to the Moon: Cost: $36.4 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost:
 $237 billion
 • S&L Crisis: Cost: $153 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $256
billion • Korean War: Cost: $54 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $454
billion • The New Deal: Cost: $32 billion (Est), Inflation Adjusted
 Cost:
 $500 billion (Est)
 • Invasion of Iraq: Cost: $551b, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $597 billion
 • Vietnam War: Cost: $111 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $698
billion • NASA: Cost: $416.7 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $851.2
 billion

 TOTAL: $3.92 trillion

Female singer tag

FYI - "Female singer tag" is not a valid tag. The decision was made to only use Gender on the artist pages not song pages. Thanks.

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving! Kelli (talk/contribs) 09:12, December 2, 2008 (AKST)

Didn't people think that someone might want to hear songs by one gender or the other? Seems to me a more important search tag than upright bass! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Firewalk (talkcontribs) Please sign comments with four tildes ~~~~
This has been discussed a lot and Jim decided that gender should go on the artist page. I guess you can bring it up with him again if you feel that having it on the artist page is not sufficient. See Category:Gender_female and Category:Gender_male to request shows by gender. Kelli (talk/contribs) 09:27, December 2, 2008 (AKST)

Going?

Hi Cater, I still live in the same place of sixteen years. We just sold a building that we were going to develop. This week I am going to Chattanooga. Blessings, Rich Firewalk (talk/contribs) 13:20, December 2, 2008 (AKST)

Oh good! Congratulations on selling something during this economy! Hope you have a great time in Chattanooga. That's one of my favorite towns! Will you be close enough to see Blueridge? Cater (talk/contribs) 13:47, December 2, 2008 (AKST)
