Hello, Anon!
Thanks for stopping by. I change this a little bit every now and then and have tried to pare it down cuz it seems just a little unruly and rambling... sort of like me. Gone is the version of this page that had the book reviews and the section on my trip to Belize where I helped teach summer school with my friend who was there as a Peace Corps Volunteer. I think that can all be seen via the history of this page, though. Wiki is pretty amazing. Anyway, you can find out a little about me and my crazy life here.
I have also been putting pictures up at LuAnna's Gallery and have started a listing of concerts and gigs that Wheatheads around the world might like to know about. I am hoping that 'you will add to this one and help keep it current and meaningful. Check it out at Concert Alerts Ditto about the Festivals page.
This is Jimbob editing LuAnna's page because her Flickr photo album is just too good not to have a link to: LuAnna's great Flickr photo album with lots of music photos
Thanks, Jimbob!

Geographical Information
I live in Kansas. (in the blue house) This is the "wheat state" and while most of the state has strong agricultural happenings, I live in Wichita, a city where airplanes are built. The land in Kansas is pretty much flat, the trees are pretty much absent, and the weather here is pretty much out of control.

Weather in Wichita
Get directions to make your own weather banner and compare the weather in the places where some of the Wheatheads live on the Wheathead weather page.
Discography
I should say that I have always hated DISCO. Didn't like it then, don't like it now, and really don't have much of a sense of humor about those mirrored balls.
If this is about DISCS, I have hundreds, maybe thousands of CDs. I don't know why. I used to download tons of live shows in flac format or trade live shows with other people who also don't know why they did that. I think the word is obsessive.
True Confessions
- I am not a huge fan of this WWR stuff. I am barely over 5'2" tall. Maybe I could be called a short chubby fan of this WWR stuff.
- I avoid responsibilities by running away. Usually I run to music festivals such as the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, Kansas; Merlefest in Wilkesboro, North Carolina; and the three Planet Bluegrass festivals in Colorado, my favorite of which is Folks Festival. There is a page here at Whole Wheat to keep track of different festivals where you might get to meet up with a fellow Wheathead or hear some of the WWR artists.I took this picture of Alison Brown at Merlefest and i am putting it here so that it will be linked to a page. It's one of my favorite pictures.
- Between festivals, my addiction to acoustic music leads me to The Old Settlers Inn in Moundridge, Kansas and to The Iron Horse Concert Hall These and an occasional house concert are the best ways to support great live music and the musicians who make it.
- I have another job that most people don't know about. Every summer I work at the Great Plains Nature Center I teach a college workshop called "Spineless Wonders." Some people may be quick to think something else, but it is really about insects and other arthropods. Every year, we get women who think they are going to learn how to deal with their husbands.
- There is no such thing as spare time!

I have escaped my home once again to hang out with my people in Denver. It has been a wonderful week and has really made up for the fact that when I came out for Thanksgiving, I picked up a little stomach bug and didn't get to see hardly anyone. I have spent way too much time shopping in hopes of finding the perfect thing to wear to my son's wedding in April. The only thing I found out there is some great motivation to lose weight before then and to avoid the mirrors in those stores. It's always nice to see my friends and to be able to celebrate New Year's Eve at a house concert. The current conversation here at the breakfast table where we still linger, is whether or not I will make it out here to hear Dougie Maclean in March. So far no one is taking bets that I won't, regardless of what I say. LuAnna (talk/contribs) 08:29, January 3, 2009 (AKST)
- Sounds like a great time! And Dougie would be worth the drive. Kelli (talk/contribs) 08:38, January 3, 2009 (AKST)
NEWGRASS RETURNS HOME TO LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY
Sam Bush and original members of New Grass Revival & The Bluegrass Alliance announce major concert event at the Galt House to benefit American Cancer Society
December 24, 2008 | Louisville, KY - Two of the world's most innovative and influential music bands return home to Louisville, Kentucky, the birthplace of the NEW GRASS REVIVAL and its predecessor THE BLUEGRASS ALLIANCE. These bands created and defined a new style called Newgrass, mixing traditional Bill Monroe-styled Bluegrass with a fusion of rock, blues and jazz. Led by SAM BUSH - the Father of Newgrass - the recordings, concerts and members of the New Grass Revival and The Bluegrass Alliance have become part of the folklore of the state, and major forces within the music industry. Without a doubt, these bands from Louisville changed the course of Bluegrass music forever.
Sam Bush and original members of the New Grass Revival and The Bluegrass Alliance have launched a major project celebrating the Newgrass era in Kentucky, titled "THE BLUEGRASS HOTEL". The centerpiece of the project is a KET co-produced Film broadcast nationally on PBS stations in 2009, that will be accompanied by a DVD, CD, LP record and coffee table book. Film elements include reality-based storytelling and jam sessions filmed at the legendary Bluegrass Hotel and the funky 70s-era Rudyard Kipling club, archival performances of the bands in the 1970s, and recording sessions of new music set against the backdrop of a major benefit concert on March 20, 2009 at the Galt House Hotel in Louisville. Concert highlights include a confirmed All Star performance featuring Sam Bush with Curtis Burch, John Cowan, J.D. Crowe, Tony Rice, and Dan Crary. Expect an announcement soon regarding confirmed appearances by major Special Guest Stars and other original members of the New Grass Revival and The Bluegrass Alliance bands. Proceeds of the March 20th concert benefit the American Cancer Society in Louisville.
This close up of my tree reminds of looking at pictures in those "Ideals" publications. Anyone remember those? Full sized illustrations and mostly sappy poems. This is my first tree in years. It got to be too big of a job to haul the tree home, get it upright and all that, seemed to take forever to get the lights on it and then getting it to the local "tree cycle" location was never easy. So I have crossed over. This one is a pre-lit fake. All I had to do was set it up and decorate it. Anyway, it was the floor model and it was big time on sale last January. I figure if if brings me this much pleasure, it can't be ALL bad. LuAnna (talk/contribs) 06:06, December 25, 2008 (AKST)
As the year draws to an end and we traditionally take pause to take stock of our own life and as we exchange holiday wishes with friends, we toss around words like peace, love and joy along with happy and merry, I offer up this as a good reminder of the nature of peace. It starts within. I don't remember where I got this, but I ran across it again just now and want to share this as my Holiday greeting to all of you! LuAnna (talk/contribs) 02:20, December 14, 2008 (AKST)
The Symptoms of Inner Peace
- A tendency to think and act deliberately, rather than from fears based on past experiences
- An unmistakable ability to enjoy each moment
- A loss of interest in judging others
- A loss of interest in conflict
- A loss if interest in interpreting the actions of others
- A loss of the ability to worry
- Frequent, overwhelming episodes of appreciation
- Contented feelings of connectedness with others and nature
- Frequent attacks of smiling through the heart
- Increasing susceptibility of kindness offered and the uncontrollable urge to reciprocate
- An increasing tendency to allow things to unfold rather than resisting and manipulating.
Beautiful... that's a keeper.Jenny (talk/contribs) 18:49, December 16, 2008 (AKST)
- I really like this one, LuAnna! I think I've got most of them down, except for the "loss of interest in interpreting the actions of others." Still working on that one, but not very hard - as I seem to have lost the ability to worry about things
Happy solstice, festivus, Kwaanza or whatever you keep. Cater (talk/contribs) 06:41, December 15, 2008 (AKST)
