I lived in AK nearly 25 years but have, 5 years ago, moved back to my hometown in Indiana. I didn't want to leave, it was a family necessity, but I'm making the best of it, even though I'm so homesick for AK that I can barely breathe (no pun intended).

It's so blessed hot & humid down here, no wonder people seem to be sick everywhere I go.... they breathe the same air over and over again in their offices and homes. And, if by chance, they get to be outside, the air quality stinks, literally. I live for the Fall & Winter. Thank you for being here for me and for every person who is an Alaskan in their heart.

Whole Wheat Radio gives me back my connection to the Earth as nothing else can. It reminds me that AK is where I left my heart. If at all possible, I'll make it back home one day, even if it's only for a visit. Everyone needs to have a dream.... that's mine.

Well, October is half way over & it's camping time. Camping is my escape. Just the dog and me... can't wait. Just not looking forward to those darn late hungry snakes that are still hanging around in the leaves.

Oh! THAT brought tears to my eyes & made my heart swell... THANK YOU! I helped carve out the lookout spot that's at mile 100 Glenn Hwy... overlooking Matanuska Glacier. It was my tenting spot. I'd wake up every morning, unzip my tent and be face to face with the glacier.... good memories, good times. Miss that great fishing....
If it's glaciers you like, here is a view of what was behind me in the first photo. We were camped on the upper Kink River in what is referred to as "Inner George Lake". Image:Behindme.jpg Hope you make it back soon. Cub Driver (talk/contribs) 11:39, October 25, 2008 (AKDT)
