Rich Baumann went to the Gulf coast in February 2007 to participate in the “Feel Good Tour”
giving performances in the places most damaged by Hurricane Katrina.
After four trips to New Orleans The Million Closets Project has now taken $29,000 worth of donated musical instruments and distributed them on the Gulf Coast to deserving individuals and schools.
My Work (lyrics written)
A Million Closets
By Rich Baumann 1/05/07
Silent music
Trapped in a million closets
Waiting to be Heard
Instruments alone
Waiting…
Waiting for hands to touch
Waiting hearts to warm
Longing hands
Waiting
Things lost
Music silenced
Silent music
Trapped in a million souls
Waiting to touch
Lonely Hands
Waiting to touch
Sore Hearts
Lonely Hands
Wanting most
To share in the healing Music

News and Pictures
June 2007 MADISON, WI ---- Restoring music to hurricane ravaged areas of the Gulf Coast has been an ongoing project for Madison musician Rich Baumann. He just completed his second trip to Louisiana and Mississippi with instruments donated by Wisconsin residents. The instruments go to schools and individuals who lost their instruments in Hurricane Katrina.
Korinthia Klein, violin maker and violist donated an instrument valued at $8000 was presented to student Jeffrey Wilson through the Steve Spring Foundation of New Orleans.
"On this trip I carried two cellos, five guitars, three trumpets, a trombone, a French horn, a clarinet, a flute, a banjo and an auto harp, in my 2002 Prius. I left a couple fiddles and dulcimers behind because I thought it would be prudent to be able to see out of the car!"

Auto Bailout Last Saturday I was on my way to Chattanooga. I drove into Nashville at noon to buy a tee-shirt and had to buy a car! As I was getting back on the freeway, My 2002 Prius made a loud buzzing whine! I got off the freeway and never drove it again. It only got 106,000 miles. The electric motor trans axle cost more to replace than the value of the car. Now I have a 2008 Chevy. I have done my part to save GM. Firewalk (talk/contribs) 04:46, December 13, 2008 (AKST)
