--Here's some random mid-winter thoughts I've had bouncing around my head...--
- What is Inupiaq for shiksa?
- I should get more pictures of me and some coffee up here.
- Pondering the finer points of cabin design; passive solar, bear-proofing, super-insulated, root cellars, off-grid power, greywater systems, recycled materials for a little cabin I call Zoya - after the dog musher.
- I've got gardening fever and my 40-odd gallons of compost are frozen outside and will be for some time.
- I totally miss Nengaku's Hermitage blog. I found his blog a while back on Jim's wwr blog and just love it to bits. He recently stopped blogging and I miss it. What a guy! His dog has a helper dog!!!! They are so cute :)))))))

Brian and I traveled across Alaska to celebrate our anniversary and birthdays, and visited wwr. Naturally, Esther had to hustle us on Scrabble. I unexpectedly ended up on air while having morning cappuccinos. The dark photo is a quiet moment at wwr.

The Lake Isle of Innisfree

I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree,
And a small cabin there, of clay and wattles made:
Nine bean-rows will I have there, a hive for the honey-bee,
And live alone in the bee-loud glade.
And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow,
Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings;
There midnight's all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow,
And evening full of the linnet's wings.
I will arise and go now, for always night and day,
I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore;
While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements gray,
I hear it in the deep heart's core.
Can anyone identify the bird? It was huge and scared me out there, LOL!
It's chest was really big, like a turkey's; and it's wingspan was big, like an eagle. I think it might be a juvenile golden eagle but I'm not sure. I know it's not a grouse. Denali (talk/contribs) 15:32, September 1, 2008 (AKDT)
