What do people think of the Pickens Plan for energy independence?

Look here The Pickens Plan for starters. DogNut (talk/contribs) 08:14, October 12, 2008 (AKDT) And also Pickens Plan and T. Boone Pickens on Wikipedia. Jim (talk/contribs) 05:16, October 14, 2008 (AKDT)

  • The stated benefits of wind power and liquified natural gas sound very intriguing, however I'd need to know more about the consequences (there are always some) of using such technologies, before passing judgement on the plan. Kimchifox (talk/contribs) 07:16, October 13, 2008 (AKDT)

  • I am not familiar with the Picken's Plan. Capturing wind engery is always a good idea as long as it is developed as a wind farm far away from where people live. When a person lives close to them the noise they make and the constant turning they make can be very unhealthy. People have started to develop health problems as a result.

  • Great in concept. Until now, energy was so cheap there was little need to consider alternative energy sources. Now thise alternates are becoming more competitive, but they are not without their own problems. Natural gas for example must be compressed to store significant amounts of energy. Some folks have difficulty pumping liquid gasoline, we'll have to re-train the public to pump liquid gases or compressed gases. A "spill" of liquid gas is a significanly more hazardous problem than a few cups of gasoline. Wind as an alternate energy source is alluring as well. Has anyone considered what happens when you start slowing down teh thermal energy transfer around the globe via wind when you start extracting power there? What about installing wind turbines on the roofs of skyrise buildings to make them energy independent? Overall, I think it's a good plan, let's get working on it.
