Does anybody care about the Canadian Election besides me?
We do! But it's difficult to find much information about it and the little bit we've heard is that it's quite heated. Sharpston (talk/contribs) 14:38, October 11, 2008 (AKDT)
I noticed Jim's question about finding a site with a good synopsis of the Canadian election. I follow the election on a daily basis (part of my job) and I have not found any one site without some kind of political bias. The main tv news sites (CBC, CTV) are very similar in their 'headline style' coverage. Canada.com and Canoe.ca are also owned by large companies with ties to federal politics. On the question of moving to Canada, it seems the 'little things' annoy people the most. They miss certain products in stores, certain brands of clothing or household products, tv, the metric system etc.. But...most of them are moving here specifically for jobs/school, and I'm not sure that would be the case in Jim's situation. Another option is a temporary move, come to Canada for a few months/years, don't get too 'dug in' and see if you fit in? -- Countrydave
Canada has elections? I thought they were still minions of Great Britain! (Just joking.) Seriously (and sadly so), I've never given Canadian elections much thought. Since we get a significant percentage of oil from Canada, perhaps I/we should pay more attention. (Just joking again.) I didn't realize we got any oil from Canada until the latest gas/petrol crisis! I always viewed our economies intertwined. What IS going on up there? Kimchifox (talk/contribs) 10:58, October 9, 2008 (AKDT)
It's not that I don't care it's that I'm self-absorbed in the US elections which I keep thinking will effect me more. But, if the US elections turn out a particular way, then I'll be very interested in the Canadian one and the results because (along with several other people I've had this serious discussion with) we may be interested in immigrating to Canada. Is there a link that would give a good synopsis of the Canadian Election? Jim (talk/contribs) 10:20, October 9, 2008 (AKDT)
