What was your most memorable July 4th?

I was in the little town of Byron, Georgia on the 4th of July, back in 1970. I was flat on my back with a drug induced immobility, watching the fireworks overhead...while Jimi Hendrix was playing the Star Spangled Banner. Left a lasting impression on me! For a little kid in Dover, Ohio, 4th of July was a Very Big Time....second to only Christmas. Fireworks in Tuscora Park is one of my most vivid memories from childhood. The muffled "boom", fireworks against the ink black sky, being out late.... few things in life match the excitement of going to see fireworks when you are 7.Jenny (talk/contribs) 18:36, July 3, 2008 (AKDT)

The one where Flip and Justin and I got on top of Berwick Elementary's roof and dropped M-80's down the chimney into the boiler where they made a neat sound. And then the unmarked cop car pulled up and they ran and I didn't. And I got a ride home in the back of a cop car and my Dad said "Teach him a lesson. Take him to jail." Yeah, that was a memorable one. Image:Smile.gif Jim (talk/contribs) 11:41, July 3, 2008 (AKDT)
Sure beats fireworks through the camper window. — Mert (talk/contribs) 12:18, July 3, 2008 (AKDT)

I don't usually celebrate the holiday, but a couple of years ago on the 4th I slept in my truck, parked in the back lot of my mom's nursing home. It's on the edge of town, across from a field, so it's a lot nicer than it sounds. On the other side of the highway, a ways away, is a fireworks store. I fell asleep watching the show through my camper window. — Mert (talk/contribs) 09:02, July 3, 2008 (AKDT)

I was visiting Ketchikan, Alaska where I had lived for 11 years and where my son still lives. I was enjoying a great, sunny 4th sans hat. I enjoyed drinking beer at a school reunion, the parade and the logging show. At about 4 pm I went back to the hotel bar and looking in the mirror and notice I was redder than a beet or tomatoe could ever get. Ouch, what a sunburn!!
