I was born on Guam, January 28th, 1952 but grew up in an area north of Seattle called Richmond Beach. I remember music very early in my life. The first song I can remember was Jerome Kern's "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes". My mother loved the novelty songs of the time like "Beep Beep", "Purple People Eater" and "Teeny Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini". My father loved the crooners like Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett. My older sister loved Elvis, and I loved it all.
After high school, I joined the Venus National Tour of the rock musical HAIR. I toured with the show for 2 years, hitting every State in the Union and Canada. After HAIR, I traveled to San Francisco and began writing songs and regularly performing. I made my living on the street down at the Cannery and Ghirardelli Square, playing in clubs all through San Francisco, Los Angeles, Portland and Seattle as a solo artist and as a member of various different bands.
Alaska has been my home since 1981. I have two daughters, Erin Rae and Kaitlin Anne. From time to time, they sing and play along with me. I own "A Street Audio Production" and "Orphan Boy Records". I produce my own music at A Street and help other artists with their music. I direct music for St. Mary's Episcopal Church and the Alaska Spiritual Circle. I am a board Member for the Anchorage Community Theatre (ATC) and a former member of the Anchorage Folk Festival (AFF). I could go on and on, but Michael assured me no one would read beyond the third paragraph.
