Born Carson Amanda Bradley Blanton, Carsie spent her childhood in the small town of Luray, Virginia, running amok. She did not attend a lick of school (okay, one lick, in 7th grade), and asserts that she’s the better for it. Her first instrument was the piano, on which she took lessons from ages six to thirteen and learned elementary music theory. At thirteen she began playing guitar, and taught her ear by picking out the songs of Ani DiFranco, Patty Griffin and others (who, for her dignity’s sake, shall remain nameless). Carsie wrote her first "real" songs, and recorded her first demo (with Steve Van Dam, producer of "Ain’t So Green") at age fifteen. She has been gigging regularly since then, at first in and around her hometown, and later in and around Eugene, Oregon, where she moved at age sixteen, and where she currently resides.
Also at sixteen, she released her first album, 'Hush', recorded on a four-track by her good friend Mo' Talaba. In winter/spring 2005, Carsie recorded her first studio album, 'Ain't So Green', with an infinitely large amount of help and support from engineer/producer Steve Van Dam, and from her friends and family. 'Ain't So Green's official release date was July 21, 2005, but was not pressed until December '05.
Carsie now resides just outside of Philadelphia, PA. Besides music, Carsie enjoys the poetry of e.e. cummings, complexity theory, tea and teacups. She is passionate about youth rights and alternative energy, and is utterly obsessed with lindy hop and blues dancing..
